Neither of those work unless you have the factory tow package. I've actually purchased the CURT and tried. There's a thread about this: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...l#post11561909

if the dealer isn’t willing then you can’t force them. Find another dealer or independent mechanic.

its hard to get the parts to do it…. I’ve been trying to get the tow converter box and wiring for a couple months and it’s not available.

2023 production stopped a while back.

If you are ordering a2023 then it is an existing car.

You can get the hitch installed at the dealer.

In US you should be able to factory order the hitch on the 2024 though.

I am not concern about the hitch receiver, but I think the factory tow package has a more heavy duty radiator, other components, and wiring. it is only $170 to add in the config, and I assume the wiring is so much easier to do in the factory. not sure if individual mechanics would void the warranty

I doubt there is a more heavy duty radiator. I think Lexus standardized on the same radiator several years ago. I honestly believe the only difference is the tow converter, which is a box with some relays/electronics and a wiring harness.

There is a different radiator and an added transmission cooler in addition of the tow wiring converter.

Towing without a transmission cooler is not a good practice.

Can you provide part numbers for both radiators and transmission cooler?

I find it extremely implausible that Toyota/Lexus are throwing in that much equipment into a $160 package. The $160 is basically the parts cost of just the wiring and relay box.

would we be able to order the parts and ask the dealership to install? frustrated they were not willing to add the tow package to the car I reserved at the factory before the car was made

I suggest you look behind the bumper of a car with tow package and one without it.

A transmission cooler typically is mounted in that area, most of the times on the driver side behind the fog lamp area opening.

So I tried to get a Torklift SS hitch for the 350h that is finally arriving next week. Turns out none of their dealers up here will bring it in; I will have to order it myself and they will install it. Huge pain getting across the border.

Also, no other than Torklift seems to have a wiring kit for it, and the Torklift one is $140 USD - about $200 CAD. I will probably wait until spring now anyway, but yeesh...
