Default “Hold” with squares indicator message

On various screens, there is a HOLD indicator that comes up. HOLD then the squares and an “x”, with the squares being like the squares on the steering wheel button. I don’t understand what the vehicle is trying to tell me. It seems that pressing the steering wheel button with the squares is not related to these indicators.

HOOD or HOLD? Isn't HOLD the feature where you can take your foot off the brake at a stop light and the car won't creep? Is that engaged?

Oops, hold. It doesn’t seem to be related to that Hold feature either.

This isn’t very clear, but you can see the squares with the x. It’s the bottom line

Thanks for posting this because I am curious too. I set up a digital key the other day and everytime I start the ignition I get an annoying message stating new key detected with these same squares with the hold . I would love to be able to delete this message.

Here are 3 more photos that show the boxes with the X. I'm wondering if maybe this means to hit the boxes type switch on the steering wheel to make this alert go away? I haven't tried that yet.

Holding down the buttons on the steering wheel that have the two squares interlayed on each other will make the message disappear temporarily but will appear next time you start the car.

The messages disappear on their own if you quit the activity they warn about. But I think you are right that the "Hold <boxes> X" thing means to hold the steering wheel buttons to make that specific message disappear immediately. I won't be in my car until tomorrow, but I assume that's it and will confirm. Thanks!

I can now confirm that the "Hold <boxes> X" sub-message does mean that if you hold (for a second or two...more than just a tap) the "boxes" button on the steering wheel, it will make that entire larger warning message go away immediately.

Such a trivial thing to be so confusing.

Feels like a software human factors issue from a japanese programmer, it should say "OK" to indicate it requires a button acknowledgement.
