Reading this thread, am I getting it right that Lexus is only giving us one key fob with our purchase of a $60k+ car?

No, not really. Because of the chip shortage, they are only including one key fob RIGHT NOW, at delivery. A second one will be delivered to each purchaser at some point fairly soon. My dealer talked about having that second key programmed at the 5000 mile service. I'm not sure if that was just dealer spin or if there are definitive plans to ship the second keys within, say, 5 months (where the assumption is that 1000 miles per month is some sort of normal driving amount).

Update on my digital key:
I removed the digital key from lexus app and car and repaired it. It worked fine today. I will try to utilize digital key when I am only travelling within one mile radius from home. So, in case if digital key stops working I can uber my way home to get the fob. I still do not trust reliability of digital key though.

How did you "repair" it? I agree that I wouldn't trust being too far away from the real key fob.

@daryll40 Hahaha. I see what you did there. I was not expecting it to go through but I got lucky following my own steps again as mentioned previously.

I called Lexus at 1-800-255-3987. The noted my issue, had a representative call me back. That representative asked me a few questions, did some trouble shooting, and called me back. They got my digital key to work. I then set up my husbands, no problem. I have an iPhone 12 with iOs 16.x. Give them a call. They were wonderful to work with.

Hugsmindy’s post just above inspired me to try again and it works! I’m not sure what changed, when and why, but I’m happy to have this working.

All that’s left is to for Lexus to assign a part number for the 2023RX body side moldings so the dealer can finally order them.

EDIT: So now I’m getting the “New Key Added” message and to contact the dealer. Somewhere I read that this will age out, I think. Or do I really need to contact the dealer?

I hope they don't have any start up glitches when they introduce the "New and Improved Retinal Scan" device
with a laser that you have to stare into...

A positive finding: I left my phone on the wireless charger (unintentionally) and the car would not lock. So the digital key works like the FOB in that it can’t be locked in the car. 👍🏻

Was your phone running the lexus app at the time? I assume it must have been, it can't "not lock" just based on the bluetooth pairing, because that is active even when the phone is outside the vehicle. I assume that if you quit the app, you could lock the phone in the car with the fob.

Yes the Lexus app was running. I’m training myself to leave it open in the background.
