Default Conventional or synthetic oil?

I have a RX 350 Premium+ on order. Wondering if it will come from the factor with Conventional or Synthetic oil.

I assume if it's synthetic you only have to service the car once a year.

Its full synthetic as are most all Lexus models from the last decade or so. And you don't want it to be anything else... Enjoy the new ride.

How often you change the oil depends on how often you drive.

All 0W-20 viscosity oils are synthetic or partial synthetic only. To my knowledge, lightest weight conventional oil still made is 5W-30

Actually the owners manual calls for ILSAC GF-6A, and if you read around the various oil manufacturers website - even non-synthetic and blends can meet that spec apparently. I wonder what the dealers use, since they typically use the cheapest possible oil that meets the specification.

I make sure they use synthetic since one oil change can last me a year that way...don't see the point in alternatives.

16K kms between changes. It better be synthetic.

I know this will open a lot of debate but this is strictly my personal preference.

I like to have first oil change at 1,000 mile (old school term: engine break-in period). This is to eliminate any debris left behind from manufacturing. I don't think it happens often, but for peace of mind I do first oil change at 1000 mile.
Then next at 5,000 mile/6 months and then every 5,000 mile/6 months subsequently on always synthetic oil. Imo, I cannot hurt my engine with 5,000 mile change but there is a possibility of hurting the engine with 10,000 mile change depending on the driving style/conditions.

Exactly what I did on my wife's 08 RX350 and my 17 ES350. Oil change at 1K miles, then oil change every 6 months. Mobil 1 Synthetic only and Toyota OEM oil filters only.

ILSAC GF-6A is only one metric/qualifier for oil. GF-6A exists for other weights of oil, but you specifically need 0W-20 viscosity/weight oil, which does not come in any other form other than synthetic.
