Actually, I am not even sure now that Drive Connect has a trial period in the US - I didn't realize that was yet another subscription different from Remote Connect. Is Safety Connect yet a third subscription, or is that part of Remote Connect?

Remote, Safety and Drive are three distinct subscriptions, at least here. You can see them listed in the app, when you tap the picture of the car, then the Subscriptions button.

It is a bit confusing as some of the services appear to have up to 10 years trial periods.

Sort of on the same topic, I've noticed that the recent Monroney Window Stickers all specifically say that all vehicle services are "4G dependent". I'm assuming this is Lexus way of saying when 4G is no longer offered, your vehicle services will no longer work. Is anyone concerned about the lifespan of the 4G network? Is it reasonable to expect that at some point 4G network will go the way of the 3G network? We typically keep our vehicles for ~15-20 years, and then hand them down to the kids (grandkids now).

The carriers are no longer investing in 4G - it's capped and will "retire in place". So yes, a decade from now - it might be gone. You would think that the car companies would have learned something and would have put some kind of swappable communications module in their cars to upgrade them to 5G someday. I also don't understand why they don't make it so that the car can join the WiFi hotspot from your phone, and get on the carrier network that way.

I took a short trip today using the system default map, whick is Google I believe, and the turn by turn does indeed show in the HUD. Worked great!

I think 4G LTE VoLTE will be around for a long time. Used a lot in IoT devices at much lower cost than 5G. Heck 2G lasted over 30 years! But 5G upgrade capbility would have been a good thing. Planned obsolescence.

Default Does Waze display in HUD display?

Has anyone determined if Waze will show up in the HUD display?

Nope! Neither WAZE nor Google Maps gives turn by turn in the heads up display like Apple Maps does.

I’m having second thoughts about the heads up
display (HUD). It doesn’t seem to display anything more than the driver’s speedometer area screen displays. It doesn’t work with polarized sunglasses and, most important to me, it doesn’t display the current audio setting (known as “radio station” in Boomerspeak). So what the big deal? I may turn it off.

Doesn't it give turn-by-turn navigation? I use an app called Sygic and it has HUD. Works great at night.

Turn by turn does work if you use Apple Maps. Perhaps your Sygic will or will not work in the new RX. Neither Google Maps nor WAZE will display turn by turn in the heads up display.

Well I do not have HUD. And I am trying to think why Waze will not show up but Apple Maps (as crappy as they are) do.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that CarPlay is an Apple product. Maybe Google Maps and WAZE (also owned by Google) will update to show turn by turn.

The whole idea behind the HUD is to put things directly into your line of sight when driving. It’s not meant to add any extra info. However, my MB HUD does show distance to next maneuver.
If it doesn’t work with polarized sunglasses, I guess it’s a moot point.
