Lexus Prepaid Maintenance plan
#31
Hello all,
I have bought a new 2024 Lexus RX350 h, and along with that was sold a prepaid maintenance package , 5y/50000mi, for $3745.
I am having second thoughts about it given that 1st year services are free and generally until the car is 50,000 - 60,000 miles there I snot much that needs to be done in terms of maintenance.
I am very new to Lexus family and would love to know how much are the maintenance services with Lexus and if the package is worth it or not.
Thank you so much in advance.

My Lexus dealer's "Finance Manager" tried to scare me into buying it by insinuating that without such "maintenance" provided by the package, it would void the Lexus warranty. Right.
Compared to Infiniti and Audi dealerships I've had experience with before, Lexus dealerships rank the worst possible, in every possible way. At least Infiniti/Audi dealers didn't try to insult people's intelligence and were matter of fact.

Advantage is have a great salesperson. The Business Manager must have notes in my profile because the last four purchases their comment was "I know you are not interested in any of these packages but I have to go through them". I say I understand. Last purchase they had over $5,000 of packages extended warranty, tire and wheel damage leather protection etc.

A new Lexus 5,000 and 10,000 mile is free. So you are talking eight services including the 50,000 mile service. For me 15,000, 25,000, 35,000, and 45,000 miles service is a glorified tire rotation. Four tire rotations at the Lexus dealership would cost me $100. 20,000, 40,000 and 50,000 is a tire rotation and oil change. Cost at Lexus dealership $120 each. 30,000 mile is tire rotation oil change and brake fluid change total cost $250. In 50,000 miles I would change the air filter twice and cabin air filter three times. Both take five minutes and cost $20 each bought on line. So total service through 50,000 miles doing everything ala carte like I do would be $810.
Hence no extended warranty or maintenance plan for me, that was the point in getting my two cars.

for our first RX purchased on 2013 the finance guy (I was taking advantage of 1.9% financing) was an old school hack who tried to brow beat us on everything...maintenance, extended warranty, endless tire caressing, scratch and dent stuff, towing, you name it. Despite us giving him distinct non buying signals, we couldn't shut him up, and at the end of his pitch he told us this would only cost us (back in 2013) $10,000. Ha, we laughed and he looked at us like we were letting the opportunity of a lifetime get away. Still no bitey.
Maybe because the dealership got negative feedback on this guy (he very definitely tried to cheat us on the financing but we caught on) our 2023 purchase was much easier, no crazy hard sell, just a straightforward deal. They did make us listen to the finance guy's pitch, even though we were paying cash, but two minutes into it he looked at me and my wife and said "you don't want any of this stuff, right." Right indeed!

One guy was so irritating about trying to keep the LoJack that was on the car and kept stirring the numbers with hopes of breaking me.
I finally stood up and yelled WHAT PART OF NO DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND!

I found it on their web site. Three oil changes and six tires rotations is all that is included: https://www.lexusofoxnard.com/luxury-care/

I'm at 5000 miles and I am so torn at getting oil changes and tire rotations at the dealership in the future. I absolutely can do it at home. However, by doing at dealership, I could get maintenance history record and also multi-point vehicle check. By doing at home, I could put in high quality oils, right torque specs and scratch free on the vehicle.
