My neighbor just got a 2023 RX 500H F sport. The gas door sits flush.

Apparently there was an assembly line issue during a certain run that was corrected later on. The pics are so obvious that they should have corrected before the vehicles left the factory.

Mine was built in Jan. The gas door is not completely flushed but is not very bad. However, it is quite flimsy.

Ditto exactly. My car was built early this month (Jan). The gas door isn't bad enough to schedule an appointment, but it's not the solid thing that my prior Lexi had. I'll be watching this thread and if there's ever a fix/change, I'll do it. In the meantime I can certainly live with it the way it is.

Would you happen to know specifically what the assembly line issue was, affected production date range, etc? Seems like you might have an inside track or source on information related to the fuel door issue. Any additional information would be appreciated before I go to my dealer to have them look at my fuel door which protrudes from the surrounding rear quarter panel.

Lexus invited me out to the Rolex 24 at Daytona as one of their VIP guests and I had the opportunity to see 3 RXs in person, two of which were RX500h. All of them had the door misaligned, albeit not as the OP. I would definitely ask to get this corrected.

Here are photos of the hinge it seems to be all plastic clips attached to the rear gas door and can't seem to adjust anything.

Just spoke with a dealer who told me they are getting allocated more cars but that there has been a bit of a hold to work thru something quality issues. Perhaps this is an example of that, who knows.

Our 500H was also on hold for quality issues and apparently the gas door was not one of them.

UPDATE - so the tech at my dealership inspected the fuel door and acknowledged that it sits proud and not flush with the quarter panel, had no idea how to adjust or correct it. There were two in the showroom and their fuel doors were flush. I opened and closed the fuel doors on those and they both seemed like they were firmly secured to the plastic backer plate of the hinge mechanism (almost no gap) whereas on mine seems like there is some play, somewhat loose. Several others on the lot had the issue….

I decided to call the mothership to report this anomaly and told them others have reported the same and of course they said they are unaware of any issues with the fuel doors on the RX’s and haven’t received any complaints.

Has anyone got theirs fixed or adjusted yet?

This is not looking promising at the moment…

On vacation in Florida, we found four new RXs on the lot…three had just come in and the gas caps were OK. An older one had the messed up cap, it definitely stands out as a bad look when you look down the side of the otherwise sleek car.

My 500H gas door is forever broken after I try to fuss around with it. I need to gather some information with photos from others RX to provide at my dealership for reference.

Here are some pics of my fuel door, it does not protrude as much as Julius071’s, but prominent enough to notice it’s not right, more so along the bottom edge of the door. This should not have passed QC inspection and now to get it fixed, who knows if and when…to some this may seem like a small issue and yes there could be other more serious problems (transmission, engine, etc…) and although it is strictly cosmetic, it’s a reflection of quality which I wouldn’t associate with Lexus product. They need to address this very, very soon.

Well, that sucks. It is a small variance, but crazy for an expensive Lexus. Does it almost look like the door does not follow the line of the fender?
