That's one of the most obvious and visible areas of the car it should be properly aligned. Seems like plastic fuel doors are prone to this, assuming that is plastic which I think it is.

I'm sure that can tweaked but I'd be leery of a dealer messing around with my car.

I am pretty sure the gas door is made of metal. At least mine feels like it is.

MAGNET TEST! MAGNET TEST! (assuming it is a steel panel, not aluminum)

3.1mm vs 1.1mm.
Do you think this can be realigned to correct the gaps evenly to the Lexus Quality Standard?

Damn shame Lexus quality has gone down the tubes in recent years! I hope Lexus reads this forum and begins to make quality cars again!

Has anyone emailed Lexus Corp and shared this link?

Went with my parents to pick up their new 2024 450h+ (Japan built) and the alignment is off too. The bottom right side of the gas lid sticks out a bit more than normal and the spacing is not quite centered. They’ll address it at the first month check-in service.

My 2023 350h looks a lot better than this.

Tried to fix in Photoshop the fuel door seems to be slightly the wrong shape.

Hello,
I thought the problem only existed on the European market. My RX has exactly the same problem. I find it problematic that the tank cap is made of plastic anyway! For those who like to craft, I have a solution. There is a tab on the inside of the tank cap. This can be easily lifted with a screwdriver and the tank cap can then be pulled out to the rear. You can now see some plastic brackets that have too much play. I cut 5 by 5 mm and 1 mm thick washers and glued them under the plastic holders. It's a bit difficult to explain, but once you have the tank cap in your hand, you'll quickly understand how to proceed. The washers pull the tank cap closer to the holder and so it looks perfect afterwards. Of course, like me, you do this at your own risk :-) .
For me, replacing it is out of the question because you will clearly see the difference in color of the new fuel filler flap afterwards.

Another small note,
I've been buying Toyota since I was 18, with one exception, and later Lexus. I notice that the quality is no longer what it once was. I think that other brands probably aren't any better, but I still think it's a shame because this was always a guarantee at Toyota. Unfortunately, this also applies to the Lexus workshops in my area.

In regards to your "another small note" That's exactly what I've been saying in previous posts here!

So is Lexus quickly approaching the build quality of Teslas?

Consumer Reports still rates them as the most reliable brand, for what that's worth. All I know is that both of mine are excellent.

I'm circling back to see what's happened, or not, with the non-flush gas door. Are new 2024 Rx's still hitting dealers with this annoyance? Has there been any sort of fix for those of us with older 5th Generation Rxs with "bulging" gas doors?

I mentioned my own QC issues, others just replied deal with it its just a car. That's the direction we head with complacency
