Gas Door Not Flush
Took delivery of 500H in December 21 and noticed gas door is not flush. Took it back to the dealership that following weekend. The service person walked to the car, pressed the gas door button and nothing happen, he hit that button again nothing happen so he went and pry it opened with his fingers (oh yeah alot of micro marring in the paint when doing so, yikes!) and a rubber plunger came out falling onto the ground! They took it into their shop and the Lexus master mechanic placed the rubber plunger where it belongs and fixed it but the gas door is still not flushed! The master mechanic also said that this is a aerodynamic feature?! The service person also said if theres a number of this issue then Lexus will indeed look into it more but at this time not action from Lexus. A month went by and I had to go and pickup the plates and I cruised around the showroom floor and checked out all the new RX gas door and is somewhat not flushed as well?! Just wanted to ask here if anyone gas door is not flush as well. Attached some photos!

For what it's worth, I noticed that my RX350h fuel door is somewhat flimsy and perhaps not quite flush. Certainly not that "bank vault" feel like my old 2020RX. Perhaps Lexus will fix this once more report.

When you open it, the reason for that becomes apparent. It's a piece of metal clipped to a plastic hinge thingy. And the assembly was pretty careless. That's why they all look wrong, some worse than others (mine looks pretty bad too). I'm sure it's something they can correct super easily though.

Same here. Mine is also off, the top part of the fuel door is relatively flush with the surrounding body panel, however the bottom portion noticeably protrudes. I missed this during my pre delivery inspection, noticed it the first time I opened the fuel door to fill up, thought I was the only one until I came across this thread.
I fully agree with BumbleD, the fuel door is very flimsy, something you don’t expect on a higher end luxury vehicle, especially from Lexus…my previous Lexus fuel door was more rigid and robust, when closed it was in perfect alignment with the body panel.
I plan on going to drop by my dealer next week to show them and see if there is anything they can do to adjust or fix this. Stay tuned…

Lexus Test Driver
Chalk it up to to a new gen flaw that they'll correct in the 2024 MY.

Perhaps those are newer builds and they have modified how the fuel door attaches to the hinge bracket, mine has some play in it and I think that’s the issue. Or it’s a QC issue with the supplier of the fuel door bracket assembly, some are fine while others are not. I viewed several YouTube videos on the new RX last night and paid close attention to when the camera pans around the vehicle and you can notice the fuel door sitting proud in some videos, hard to notice on camera but it’s there. On the other hand, there are videos where the fuel door looks flush and properly fitted. Today on my drive to work while looking out the driver side mirror I can notice the protruding fuel door, it shouldn’t be visible at that viewing angle.

I took delivery of mine end of December. Hope it’s a simple adjustment, quick fix. Have never come across this on any previous vehicles I have owned. Given several others have noticed the same thing Lexus should be aware of it as I anticipate there are others who may not have noticed it yet and some who may not bother or think much of it. For me this falls under “fit and finish” and not what one would expect from Lexus.
