Lexus Service won't disable. At least that's the instructions that come down from Corp.I have 2020 ES350 FSPORT n there is no way to disable on my own. Service Advisor stated 2 yrs ago when I asked n he said they are not allowed to disable. May be different from one dealer to another but not likely. Also if you have something of any wt in backseat it will chime or the sensor flashes in front of me, but eventually goes away.
Wear your seat belt!! 😁😃

They cannot disable or instruct you on disabling this feature. From someone who knows from experience how seat belts save lives, please wear your seat belt! Even in the back.
If cargo on the seat is making the seat belt alarm go off, just buckle the seat belt.

They were able to disable the alarm on my 2021 RX. I would be surprised if that isn’t still a dealer customizable setting in this model. Now some dealers may refuse to do it as they don’t want any liability if an accident occurs and an occupant is injured while not wearing a seatbelt. It was identified as an option in my owners manual and I pointed the service advisor to the page so they couldn’t make any excuses.

https://caristaapp.com/vehicles/lexus/rx/4th-gen No idea if they will release a 5th gen version. But this one allows disabling seatbelt warnings.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I understand the need to wear a seatbelt, most of the time I always do, but I live on a large private property and also I noticed as well that if theres something in the back seat (ie not a person) the alarm still goes off.

Very annoying.

Too bad I didnt know more about it during the sale - "Ill bite if you disable the seatbelt alarm!"

Hmm wonder if I can find a dealer tech to frame or blackmail or something (j/k)

Can you just buckle the back seat belts without anyone in them? Wouldn't this stop the seatbelt alarm or can it tell if it is not fastened around someone/something?

On my RX350h rear seat belt only chimes if a person removes it while the vehicle is in motion. But if the seat belt was not used since the beginning of the journey, it does not chime.
These warnings could be varying state by state. I believe in NJ, not wearing rear seat belt is considered secondary offense and not primary offense.

HA! Thats awesome! Says no longer available but thats a fantastic idea, may look into it!

tedward155 - not sure if you posted similar, that Amazon link is dead

Turns out that the "Chime" goes off after about 2-3 mins. Not a big deal. Having said that, YES you are all right, everyone SHOULD wear their seat belt. I know this is a "cop-out" but I was more asking for my wife as she is overweight and hates wearing her seatbelt. I always wear mine.

Anyway, thanks everyone!

Lmao I love how the tikit seatbelt thing has a bottle opener built in. I guess they decided nothing beats drinking and driving while not wearing a seatbelt
