I apologize if you all already know of it, but I am beta for the 2023.
I had a 2015 and a 2017 rx and neither had such.
what a frustrating feature.
good grief.
a pic of the exact one for the 2023 (length, I guess, is the only issue)
Our Subaru Crosstrek has stop/start and we didn’t like it at first. But we’ve gotten used to it. It’s no big deal. I remember my father insisting that the dealer disable the must-buckle-up thing when he bought our 1974 Malibu. Eventually, too, we got used to fastening our seatbelts. Also no big deal.
In the 350h, there is no button on the shift console to turn it off - because stopping and starting the engine is integral to the way the hybrid drive system works. The 350 ICE has start/stop, page 296 of the manual.
Ah, I missed that. My bad. I have the 350h on order so it is not a big deal for me (and irrelevant). And you are saying you cannot turn it off? That is strange as all cars I've ever driven (I rent a lot on business) have the ability to turn it off.
You can turn it off, but it flips back to on when you restart the car.
For a while I trained myself to do that every time I got into my Subaru. It's easy to become automatic. That being said, later I decided to go with the flow and also got used to the stop/start. Not a big deal.
The hybrid start/stop is not annoying like a gasoline only car, because you can creep forward at lights and start off in EV mode. There's no delay or starter sound when you want to go.

this new 2023 rx is for my mom and I need to make it as easy as possible. (her last was a 2015 - traded @23K 2 mos ago) this fix is hopefully as good as it is on many other brands that the US requires the self-defeat to be single selected.

I’ve never heard of a hybrid system where you can turn off the Stop/start. If you could turn it off, it wouldn’t be a hybrid. But then, my MDX has a Sport+ mode. That leaves the engine and battery on all the time. For more power.
You do not need to defeat the auto stop feature. Have you ever driven a hybrid before? It really does not have auto stop, it is a hybrid. The gas engine stops and starts without even feeling it and most of the time hearing it. It is an awesome piece of technology.
