Does the key card just open the doors and allow you to start the car or does it have all the functions of the key fob? Does it have a place to store a metal door key and if so, is it the same one that the key fob uses or is it a different item #?

There are no buttons on it so, you can drive the car much the same as if you kept the fob in your pocket without ever touching it. There is a metal key that slides into a groove in a similar manner as the fob. The key is smaller, as it doesn't have the long angular plastic extension on the end.

Thanks Stefanos, one more question, does the metal key come with the card or is that a separate purchase?

The key card came with our NX and the metal key was included. I kinda got the impression from Mamberly that when he ordered his, the metal key was not included and they wanted to charge him an additional $35.

The dealer confirmed that the metal key comes separate from the card key. The part # is 69515-12350 and I paid $48.00 for it but no shipping chg. On top of that a local locksmith quoted me $95.00 to program the card and $70.00 to cut the metal key. So like $284.00 for the parts and $176.00 for programming makes it like $460.00 which is way more the $100.00 they charge when it comes with the car.

Oh guys, I consulted this key with dealer. I live in Slovakia, Europe. He warned me that this might not work here due to different frequencies. Do you know something about this?

Look at post 30 above, which talks about there being models of the card with different frequency pairs. Did your local dealer share what the frequencies used are for you?

It sounds like North America uses 312.1 MHz and 314.35 MHz, and there's at least one other card version that instead uses 433.58 MHz and 434.42 MHz.

No, he didn't share that information. I've sent him an email, hopefully he can get this info...

Well I finally found a locksmith that had Tech Stream software and he was able to program my key card and cut the metal key insert. It works great and I enjoy not having to carry the fob. Shame on the worthless dealer who refused to program it.

And the key card you used was the 8990h-78491 (HYQ14CBP) previously mentioned by @Mamberly ?

Was the key you used the 69515-12350 that you mentioned previously?

(Getting ready for my official test drive of a '24 RX350 Premium, want to have the right add-on parts listed on my spec sheet - the dealer already indicated that they're fine with getting/programming/... a card for me.)

Thanks!

Markfm, Yes to both questions. The key card was $228.30 and the metal key was $ 47.76 It was from an EOM Lexus dealer in Ohio. I will put the linK below. Use SHIP20 in the promo field for discounted shipping. This dealer had both parts.

Thanks for the link!

I'll see what the dealer price is if I get the parts through them (happy to buy from them since the sales manager said they would be fine doing the part ordering and configuration as part of the sale, they've done this multiple times for others). On my workup I have the car with all packages and accessories spelled out (using the Lexus site Build functionality), then after the TOTAL AMOUNT AS BUILT row I inserted:
Add-ons (Smart Access Card Key plus its companion key, configured):

1. Keyless Entry Transmitter/Smart Access Card Key, 8990h-78491 (HYQ14CBP), programmed to work with the car

2. KEY, BLANK (CARD KEY), 69515-12350, key cut to work with the car

Markfm, If you can get your local dealer to program it you are lucky. I asked them and they refused even when I told them it wasn't an aftermarket part. They wanted $350 for the key card and $59.00 for the metal key, and $180.00 to program it. When I told them it was for a 2023 RX they refused. I also asked a local Toyota dealer and they also refused and said I had to go to Lexus. I went to a local locksmith who thought he could do it. When I brought the car there he couldn't even access the car data. If you don't get the dealer to do it, make sure the locksmith has up to date Tech Stream software. The local locksmith gave me the name of a mobile locksmith who had the correct software and was able to take care of it. ($300.00 ouch!) At first it was able to lock the car but wouldn't open the doors. I used my key fob to open the tail gate. I climbed over the seat and push the unlock on the door. After that everything worked perfectly. Just an FYI if you order from Lexus OEM online and put the year, model and or Vin # in the system to check if the part will fit, you will get this message This part does not fit your 2023 Lexus RX350h Change vehicle because the Lexus data base doesn't recognize this option on our vehicles. That being said it worked for me and Mamberly. Good luck.

Open your keyfob, and take a picture of it. I can try look up what model/frequencies it uses. It should have the model and FCC ID on it.

Confirmed both of these worked for 2024 RX 500h F Sport. Programmed successfully at local dealership. Cheers.
