yes, the U shape piece pops out... Pull on it.. and u will see 4 10mm bolt holding the whole center console in place..Once u remove the bolts u can pull on the whole panel back towrds you and it will come out.
'
I made the dash kit.. what i had to do once i had it out.. I cut the factory stereo part out .. It is one whole piece so u cannot just remove it.. U have to cut the whole piece out like the pic above. and i made my fit and measureed everything and filled it with plastic. and shaped it and repainted it with paint match with the factory color.
When i cut the stereo.. I wanted a very very clean cut.. so whati did was i took a flexible ruler placed it on top of the panel where i want to cut the stereo out.. and i scored it with a razor blade over and over.. took me awhile.. but when it comes out.. its one nice clean cut. and straight was well... not Like if you were to cut it with a jig saw or air saw.. this way it made it easier for me to work with because i can see where my stereo will be centered.

The job you did looks fantastic. I am going to be doing something similar for my wife's car, can you tell me what material you used to fabricate the new opening? Also, it looks like there isn't any seam, did you put the new material over the entire housing?
Thanks,
Russ
