Vsc warning light

If you have anyone in your area that does a free scan for trouble codes, have it done and post the code for us. Some of the parts stores across the country scan for free. If you have it done, also have them turn the light off while they are hooked up. MANY thing can turn the VSC light on that aren't necessarily assocciated with the Vehicle Stability Control. Dash warning lights don't always indicate the exact problem that they seem to be pointing at.

You haven't had your oil changed lately, have you? If so, it's possible someone unplugged a hose accidentally. Had this happen to me a few months back.
You will notice the loss of horsepower, too, if so.

Just had this happen to me - 2002 FWD displayed VSC, MIL and threw a code (sorry, don't remember exact code but had to do with the fuel vapor recirculation). I cleared the CEL and VSC and the problem went away but after doing some research including posts on the other lexus forum, investigated the hose that attaches to the air cleaner cover and runs down to a 1/4" or so metal tubing.
Found it had pulled off even with the spring clamp so I reattached it and will be watching it to see if the VSC/CEL comes back on.
Here is link to the other forum post.

That code is a Chassis code. It seems to refer to the LF ABS inlet valve coil circuit short to ground. But DON'T take that to the bank! As you may or may not know, many DTC's DO NOT point directly to the problem at all. The DTC MAY be generated by another code that has nothing directly to do with that code. Life is fun, isn't it? One thing we learn from DTC's is to never take them for gospel. IF you throw parts at trouble codes, you'll probably get tired from throwing parts! That is a Lexus SPECIFIC code so may need to be read by a Lexus shop scanner, and even then MAY not lead them to exactly what's wrong! Sorry for no more help, but it's a murky picture.

If you have disconnected battery (not just reset the codes) and these codes still come up then the following I see:
P0420, that's the O2 sensor after the cat,
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...sor-2-diy.html
That is rarely related to the catalytic converter and sometimes to the gas, that's a DIY easily.
The C1236 is quite complicated, http://www.bba-reman.com/content.asp...ins_Collection
The C1201 might be in this case what I like to call and accompanying code. I.e., if you get something like an A/F sensor code like P1135, you may also see P0171, but the real issue is the P1135 and the P0171 only lit up because of P1135.
The 1236 and 1201 are related. I actually have P1201 has an engine control system malfunction, http://alflash.com.ua/OBDII/DTCe1.pdf (and it shows RX3 the VSC lamp). That 1201 is actually a malfunction signal. Hence, if 1236 comes up there's a chance 1201 will also come up.
Either way that 1236 is something the dealer or someone with a more advanced tool than a simple OBD2 is going to diagnose. It's mentioned the 1236 is more easily looked at with the Toyota/Lexus scanner (not cheap).
