Thumping noise when decelerating to 30km/h
I was wondering if anyone else experiencing the same problem that I have on their Rx350. My SUV has 23,000 miles. I just did the 23K maintenance and I told them about downshifting to 30k/h and I heard this thump noise and the car jerk a little, its subtle but you can feel it. I also notice when I press on the gas pedal lightly, it also made that thump sound. The dealer told me they did not notice anything when doing a test drive, and they even told me, they had a master technician look at it and he said all is normal. But I don't trust them; I am still frustrated with this problem. Could it be the transfer case?

This is part of the TSB regarding the oil cooler assembly. But I know that this has been rectified on newer cars. Mine was an 04. I ended up doing it myself because the dealer refused to acknowledge the thump. After I did the TSB, the thump was gone. So a search.

I can describe the TSB and give you the part number, but I suggest you take it in and ask them to do the TSB.

This was limited to the 04's. What year is yours? Anyway here are pics.

Here's the part, it is located in the bottom of the front bumper. You have to remove the covers. You will need to replace the TIV fluid that will spill-drain.

Yours is a 350, has to be an 07. I wonder why you have the same issue. Might be a different issue then. As I said this issue was corrected on the 04's, at least according to the TSB.

well mine is 2008 black onyx, I bought it last year August. Its definitely a thump when deceleration to 30km/h. For instance, I drive normally around 60km/h and decelerating or stopping for traffic light, whenever the speedometer get to 30km/h, there is a thump and the car jerk a little.

I just came back from the dealership today. They did a cpu reset on my transmission and it seems a little bit better, I will see if the situation improves in upcoming days.

Well, after 3 visits to the dealership and with each visit the vehicle failed to produce the same problems that I was experiencing. On the last visit I left the vehicle with them for a day to diagnose, they didn't give me a loaner car. Instead they drove my wife to her work place and drop me off to the nearest public transportation. Anyways I had to bus back to the dealership and retrieved my car. They said they didn't find anything wrong mechanically and said I still have 6 years drive train warranty and if anything go wrong bring it back.
I don't know what they did to the car on the last visit, but it drives much better and smoother than I had it before. I also notice that if I tweak my tire pressure psi down to 40 (I think my tire pressure gauge is not accurate, hence 40 psi = 38-39 psi) it drives really smoothly. The problem is diminish a bit.
I was very please with the service, they weren't frustrated with me and they are very helpful and pleasing.
