Is there a rip or the foam has a crack?

Rips can be repaired. Ask your Lexus dealer for the reference to leather mender.

i came accross this when i worked at acura, people who either did nothing at all to there dash (ie protectant,) or those who used armour all on there dash had problems,

secret, used quality products to keep the dash moisturized so it doesnt dry out and crack

303 is nice. No shine or greasy feeling. And do it often.

Look for a protectant that has UVA and UVB protection. Also look for one that doesn't add gloss to the dash. Glare from a shiny dash can be a bad problem.

There are a few popular products that fit this description. Here are some I have used and can recommend.

303 Aerospace Protectant
Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer
Meguiar's #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner

i believe its the original armour all that you want to avoid, trouble is, they are designed to shine, not protect. people think because the name says "armour all" that it puts a layer of armour, when its just a name.
perhaps the higher end armour all is better and safe to use.

i would recommend 303 aerospace protectant

AS303 here, like forever, I buy gallons at a time, best price break. Protects as advertised.

Angry 2004 rx330 dash crack

I have read this thread for 2 hrs because i am having cracking problems with my 2004 RX330 dash. I just came from LEXUS OF ORLANDO, Winter Park location and let me tell you they are well aware of the PROBLEM. They have a "TEST" / list of QUALIFYING questions to ask you to see if they are going to help with the repair.

1. Are you the original owner? ..and why does it matter when the car is 8 yrs old and has 59,000 miles on it. The dash should not crack. My Dad was the original owner. STRIKE 1 on me
2. Do I have ALL maintenance performed by a LEXUS dealer? ...why should this matter. NO, I do not want to pay $45.00 for oil changes.
3. D i OWN 2 or more Lexus vehicles?..why should this matter? Quick answer...I am GLAD i do not OWN 2 2004 RX330's...I would have to pay for 2 X $1500 dash replacements.

I have also owned a 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY til recently and did not have dash problems with it. If they do not help with the replacement LEXUS / TOYOTA will fall next to HP on my family DO NOT BUY list.

I will have update next week...Wish me luck!!

Document your experience in writing (problem, dates, who you spoke with, outcome, etc.) and contact Lexus Corporate with this info. Let them know that you are unhappy with the performance of their dealership and that it undoubtably will influence your future purchasing decisions. Be polite with the Corporate people and see if their pressure on your local dealership will change their attitude.

From the sound of it they are just trying to determine whether there is enough of a reason to offer you some good will on this out of warranty repair. Yes, there are a number of Lexus vehicles with this problem. My 2004 RX330 was one of them. Car was garaged much of its life and I used a sunshade at other times. Never used Armor All on it. Still, my dash cracked in a number of places. Was quoted $1600, however, they did agree to go 50/50 on the repair. That may be the best that you will see as they do not have to give any discount if they choose to take that route. Best of luck.
