Default Replacement Key

Other than going to a Lexus dealer, what are the alternatives for obtaiing a replacement key for a RX330? One of our keys is lost but I do have the second key.

Is obtaining a replacement key on eBay and taking it to an automotive locksmith a good choice? An eBay seller 888.remotes has sold many keys and has excellent feedback.

Have you tried Pop-a-Lock for a locksmith? I understand they can also provide the key.

My Toyota dealership is also looking into it.

Thanks.
Dave

This has been talked and talked about.. You can get one from ebay and a good locksmith can program it, even if he has to reset the ECU on your car to do it.

If you want to buy one from a dealer, check out Sewell, they have a good price with the club discount, comes to about 165 with the key cut. I did this and kindly asked my local Lexus dealer if they would program it free while I was in for a warranty issue. They said they would and it worked fine. Normally the dealer charges roughly $60 or so to program a key.

You can probably get a locksmith for around 30-40 to do it so that would be a bit cheaper..

To make a long story short, I have 2 fully functional keys for my 2006 rx330 from the private seller. That's all.
Here is what I did just few days ago I bought 2 keys cut by seller 1010keys from ebay, put in my existing chip and it worked, you have to send in your key code and that's all. I got one cut key with chip from ebay, and will try the dealer to program the 3rd key or program myself, not sure at this point, what to do. The bottom line is I have to live with 2 full set keys and 1 cut key without chip in it and 1 with chip in it. Advantage I have right now is if the metal part of the good key is broken I can always use the aftermarket one.
The keys cost me $40 for 2 from the ebay seller, in case you are interested, here is the item # 160439240030, please beware the keys have no lexus logos, but
working, someone says does not matter what color is the good cat is as long as it catches mice. Still you can get different color keys from this ebay seller.
