Cargo Door
Apologize if this has been discussed. Tried searching, went through a few threads, but didn't find the answer.
My buddy just got himself an 07 Rx350 and his cargo door opens automatically when you press on the rubber thing above the license plate, while mine 04 Rx330 doesn't do it. It just unlatches the door, but doesn't open it.
Can this be programmed to open the cargo door when doors open and pressed once?
Thanks

No, I don't play soccer!
JProdun, it could be that the tailgate wasn't programmed to open under power using the button above the license plate. Some people don't like that feature and disable it. It's something the dealer can do or maybe using Carista's app. You can send them a PM to find out. Does the tailgate open under power using the remote? Also check the small button on the left side of the glove compartment to make sure the power tailgate wasn't disabled.

This is one of the Lexus Personalized Settings. The Lexus dealer can change the way the tailgate performs as well as a couple dozen other features of the car.
Here is a link to Lexus' website that will show you everything that can be programmed. http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/RX350_LPS.pdf

You can change that setting with one of the ebay techstream cables/software. I changed mine to open with the button for a few weeks. I changed mine back because it confused most people opening the hatch. It is also a problem with short garages where the hatch can make contact with the door. I am not able to completely open my hatch in our new garage.

I have a 2009 Lexus RX. Open the glove box and there I noticed a button "outer rim" but inside near the bottom of the glove compartment box that kills the automatic lift gate. Look for that first.

Yes. I have an '07 350. Changed the door unlock setting, the rear door setting (to open as discussed by OP here), turned off the DRL, and the lights-after-off settings... there are others. Great $30 spent. Plus you can read codes with it.

The button in the glove box kills the power lift gate completely. Both the outside handle and the remote. So if your remote works then the glove box button isn't activated. Also, I bought one of the cheap programmers off of Ebay for $30 bucks and it is only compatible with Windows, not Mac. The software that came with it put viruses on my computer. And the programmer only let me change the window settings and A/C settings. I ended up just throwing the thing away. So just go to Lexus and pay them the $60 dollars and have them program it.

Are you sure your '04 has the optional power rear door? Does your car have a button on the lower left dash panel near the hood release that opens the hatch?

Jake -
You are right about the viruses, but only if you try to update the firmware. I did a lot of reading on Amazon about that thing before I used it. It doesn't do everything, but for $30 it also reads any codes you have. For sure it takes some work but it can be used successfully.
