Lexus RZ450e Aims To Catapult Brand Into the Future
By Brett Foote

Is the new RZ compelling enough to make believers out of EV detractors?

I'm sure it will be Lexus quality; fit and finish is unmatched in the industry.
But from an EV technology standpoint, this is a disappointment. 225 mile range? Please. I really wanted to be excited about this car.
"Wait till the big boys get in..."

Don't get me wrong, I love our Lexi and recommend them unconditionally.
Juat my 2 cents...

Lexus quality and reliability are wonderful. My Lexus was the 2nd most convenient, trouble free car i've every owned. The 1st goes to my Tesla though...3 years no maintenance, 1 service visit. I bet this Lexus EV has that going for it...will never need to see a shop ever again

Do they have true over the updates? I have doubts which means you'll be going to the dealer for bug fixes.

The press says it does. What kind of backward *** company wouldn't have OTA by now? Pretty sure Toyota / Lexus will offer OTA.

Don't be so sure. VW is supposed to but for some stuff still needs dealer visits. Jaguar similar story, and they basically stopped updating the car all together OTA or not.

Tesla is a software company. Lexus is not.

If the 225 mile range is a conservative rating that really isn’t bad, it’s about what my Plaid gets in normal everyday driving.

The new NX just had its first OTA update that was 2 separate patches one for the Head Unit OS and the other for the car's underlying software. Download was either your phone's paired connection or by selecting a wifi connection at home. All done without dealer help.

It was admittedly nerve-wracking for me as the last few moments of the patching process seemed like it took forever but thankfully this seemed like it had no issues.

Which future? Future past? With only 225 miles and average performance?

That's not the point. The point is that it will be reliable.

Are they not reliable now? I'm not hearing that their hybrids are breaking down or burning houses down.

The point is that they are releasing the only reliable EV on the market or so most Toyota owners will believe.

I'm sure this will be a great road trip vehicle.

It's fun stopping an hour to charge every 200 miles, just drink coffee bros it's really no big deal and definitely not asinine.
