Default we have safe cars

on my way home from work tonite, around 7PM EST, i had to take a detour that took me 15 minutes away when i was only yards from my house. once i got back around and saw why, i noticed there was a head-on collision at the insanely unsafe intersection just down my street (it allows people a left turn lane yield on green to the oncoming lane, all in a 4-way insection...sigh). the damage was pretty bad...i noticed the red mid-90's civic was crunched to about 2/3 its original length, and opposite it was a 92-94 green sc300 (could tell from the wheels, lack of spoilers). the sc300 took some severe damage, but only up to the front fenders. wow, i thought, that's the difference between $16,000 and $60,000 right there. im now very confident i am driving one of the safer cars ever to be on the market.

I know what you're talking about. My 92SC400 saved my butt in my accident last year. Thank god I wasn't driving my Eclipse or the accident (and me) would have been a lot worse.

Don't forget the weight difference helps too, not just money.
But I agree with AWJ, let's not experiment.

Yea my 93' SC4 saved my life too (or at least my legs), If it was anyother car I would have most likely suffered major leg injuries, thats why I love these cars.

Notice that on both wrecks, the windshields do not even appear cracked. Vegas, I assume that last one is your personal experience with Lexus crash worthiness?

OK, you have time, so start listing. However, I would limit my list to cars made for the US market within the last 20 years so that the list will not be too long. I look forward to the results of your research.
