Window outside sidebar
The window outside sidebar is peeling. Any solutions?
I wouldn't mind all silver or all black. Right now it's half & half, that doesn't get it
Never seen this in a discussion before.
thanks

It's been discussed quite a bit. Those are just two examples I managed the right keywords to bring up.

The material used on the side between the two windows is a plastic. Can’t really paint it so you have to strip off first. At the suggestion of the body shop doing my respray they recommended using vinyl wrap and we selected a faux carbon fiber material that had some texture; this worked well as there are no fingerprints/smudges when closing the doors…. No need to strip off the plastic if you use a thick vinyl.
If you don’t like it, peel it off and try something else….

Hey,
Z30 Concepts had some premade with a different carbon fiber look. May be something you like. Good luck.

Spendy option, but then it's real CF, not just a vinyl wrap. I wish they had installed pictures, to get a sense of whether it protrudes out visibly.

Drop him a line, maybe he has pictures he can send you. Hope all works out. He is very reputable, I have bought bushings and now I'm waiting on him to put the ones I need on sale.

Thanks everyone, all great help
The other side is still good on my car. So I'm running into the problem I want the messed up side to be just as smooth as the good side, but so far the cf vinyl I have seen have these squiggly line forms in them. I'm looking for smooth black
BTW I've never found anything thru that search box

My driver's side is starting to fade in the spots I regularly touch when closing the door. I think the oils from the skin gradually wear away the black coating. I always sort of figured it's a weathering issue.
They make lots of smooth black (non-CF) vinyl wraps. Carbon Fiber is always going to have that pattern. Look on eBay for 3M matte black vinyl wrap, and if you don't find dozens of matches immediately, you're doing something seriously wrong.
Never use forum search boxes... Exception being when you know a specific title and or username to look for. Use offsite searches, limited to the site you want to search. I.e., google "window b-pillar fade site:clublexus.com".

t2d2 thanks for the good tips, where I live there aren't many fellow SC guys I can talk over things with. I've seen an SC at a Discount Tire once but I'm probably the only one up here. So I rely on the club. Thanks
