Werd - I agree with OLT. It is personal preference but putting $4800 into your car is not going to make the car worth more - whereas buying an actual car, although maybe not worth what you paid for it - is still worth something.

but is it worth it to you?- that is the real question of importance... i think that answer is obvious.
if you shelled out money for custom tailights like i did$$$$$$ custom bumper lenses$$$ etc, that most people would pass up on- you are on a different level of spending on your car. if your car is running 100% and your happy with the way it performs.. why buy a new car?,just restore what you currently own-no car note? the decision is that much easier.
i have the same plans for mine...FULL RESTORATION.. with pluses..updated technology(interior custom illumination) with plenty of sound deadening... i want the interior to be whisper quiet!!! no leaks,creaks,nothing-and if i had the money to redo the exterior- i would spend it on a customized black color with pearls.. maybe..just my 3 cents

I love these cars... but you definitely can't think about the "value" of these cars anymore... just about anything you do is money that you will most likely not see again. The fact that most of these cars are under 14 grand these days (97-00 excluded), they will not suddenly be worth 5 grand more with new paint job, body kit, etc.

You have to throw money into them because you want to. It's not an investment: it's a hobby. A really really expensive hobby.

I sold mine for thsi reason. I couldn't justify investing 10-20k into a car I already paid 15k for only to have it worth 10k. Better to invest my money into a house and have an appriciating asset and get a brand new car down the road. They're nice cars but to loose 8k instantly, I would rather lease a brand new one for a year.

how bought you have a car that mechanically is 100%(therefore is not a liability) looks timeless, your happy with it and you own it?
your not paying a note so-you have money for investments,mortgages,etc..why by another car?

I have invested over 4 times as much as the purchase price, and have yet to touch the outside. The car is not going to be worth as much as I put into it, but I didn't put all the time and money into the car as an "investment" I put it into the car to make it a badass sleeper sc, and farther down the road more money towards making it a purdy car
