Default Speaker Troubles

Beginning a few months ago, my passenger side speaker would intermittently go out if I hit a rough patch of road or a speed bump. It eventually bumps back on or just figures itself out so I left it alone (other than tearing the door apart to look for obviously pinched wires or something). More recently, the audio on that side has been cutting out on harder right-hand turns which is fine, but a little frustrating as I'd rather my music just keep playing. The previous owner did a complete audio overhaul (I think he was a DJ, fun fact) but some of the wiring seems a little funky and I have no technical insight into that stuff so I was curious if anyone had any insight into where to start my wild goose chase.

Is it an aftermarket amp? If so, I would start by looking at the output connections there.

If it's not that, then I would suspect the amp itself is failing, be it OEM or aftermarket.

It could be bad wiring, but that strikes me as unlikely.

It is aftermarket, I'll take a look when I have a chance. Thanks!

My guess would be wiring. I would take it to a car audio shop unless you feel comfortable messing with it. Since you mentioned the wiring being funky, that makes me suspect it as the culprit.

It could be the amplifier itself like t2d2 mentioned or it could be the wires going to/from the amplifier.

That would be my guess too but what doesn't make sense is the rattling coming from the speaker housing when I hit any stretch of rough road. It makes me think some sort of connector is broken within the speaker itself. I've double checked every easily accessible connection possible to no avail and am a little frustrated. More tinkering to come I suppose
