Default Prob. with 97 Fog inst. on Jic kit

I tried posting on somebody else's thread about this but didn't get any response. So I took some pictures with further explanation.

I tried test fitting in the fog lights, and I'm having a serious problem.
The driver's side fog won't go all the way in because there's this metal tube blocking it. THere are two tubest that go vertically. Anybody came across this problem when doing the conversion?

Below picture:
These are the lines that I'm talking about. the One of the right bocks the way of the fog housing.

The picture shows the backside of driver's side fog.
The parts where the arrows point are the places that come in contact with the tube.

One more question...

Say I plug my H3 bulb at where the red arrow points. (picture below) How am I gonna prevent all the water and other elements getting into the fog around it? Isn't there supposed to be some kind of plug that goes on to where the blue pointers indicate?

You need the black plastic plugs for the back of the lamps, and it won't just plug in, you'll have to fab something for the wiring, Lexus doesn't sell just the plug or just that part of the harness. As for the lamps hitting when you go to install them, sounds strange...I didn't have to tweak anything to do mine, has it been in a front-ender?

Default plastic

I didn't have any problems with the fog lamps. Are you guys able to still use the same black plastic splat mats under the car with the kit.

Hey Chrono,

I believe that metal tube thing is the transmission cooler if I'm not mistaken. I did the 97 front end conversion and the same side fits REALLY snug. Have you tried mounting the light on the bumper first? I did it and I Just barely got mine to fit. Of course, the OEM material is flexible. I don't know about fiberglass. Also, when wiring the foglights, be careful where you mount the wires. My wires on the drivers side was severed by the heat of these parts. Hope my experience helps.

except for the other problems i'm having...
the fogs weren't one of them. all i can say is double check to see that it is lined up correctly, i pushed my driver side in a little too far a few times when installing the fog and it wasn't line up.

as for the wiring, i used some type of Ford connector found at pep boys in the wiring section that fit perfectly over the 97+ fog light connections with some (I think 16) 16 guage wiring.

my sc300 has never been in an accident and i had the same problem with the tubes hitting the fog. I just bent the tubes a little bit to clear the back of the fog. Careful though , dont bend too hard u dont wanna bust anything.

I left my car at a bodyshop to have the metal tube rerouted for 3 freaken days... just to find out that can't do it. I've been walking to classes in this blistering cold weather. I'm can't believe installing a set of fogs, FACTORY FOGS FOR GODSAKE, would be such a PITA.

modify that fog... its only that little plastic part on the fog that is preventing it from going in.
