Default Dilemma… which way should I go with SC300 build

I purchased a clean title 96 factory manual tan interior has small rust spots near real whirl quarters both sides. It has a little surface rust underneath but nothing major. Some kid gutted the back seats and out in racing seats in the front. I purchased a salvage title 95 SC300 300k miles for the black interior from insurance auction with rear quarter damage. Car runs great everything in it works even talked to previous owner he purchased used in 1997.Everything has been maintained and documented and in better condition than the manual. I wish I could through the manual in the 95 and fix quarter but there’s the salvage title issue!! Or should I stay on path and move parts over to the manual? Or say forget it and sell both and buy something newer lol

I'm not personally concerned with a salvage title -- never had a problem insuring one with State Farm or Farmers -- but it does have a big impact on resale value if you ever decide to move on. That said, fixing that quarter is probably more work than rust repair on the other one, and swapping interiors is fairly easy. Metalwork and repainting is time consuming and expensive, so you're starting your journey with it hopefully being a labor of love.

You have to decide if you have the passion to restore/mod an SC. It all depends on what goal you set for the “finished” car(s).

For the most part, you will never recover the investment at resale. Either build to keep or not.

If it helps you decide, SC's don't rust. When you see rust that means there has been bodywork there previously. Lexus used a coating that is pretty much timeless in its rust resistance.

That's not entirely true. The windshield headers commonly rust. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere. It's just not as likely as on other vehicles.
