Default new here, just got a sc400 (pics)

hey guys -

new on the boards, i've been lurking and reading for a while. just got a 94 sc400 with 60k on it...

already have a few mods in mind - first thing i want are hid's (autolamps) and cornering lamp / fog light conversion, then going to repaint calipers (really rusty, but work fine), make a custom carbon fiber intake, and want headers...

already has borlas on it (axle-back i think, dont do much for performance but sound nice), a built-in k40 radar detector, and another 7 months of aftermarket warranty (0 deductible).

what do you guys think? pretty clean for a 94, eh?

Hey what’s up,
I think your car looks great for a 94, the body is in really good condition and I don’t see any dings or dents. The interior is in excellent condition, those seats are in really great shape! I would recommend you go out and buy some leather care products so you can keep your leather in perfect condition, our SC's leather tend to get old and crack fairly easily. Anyway welcome to CL and I'm sure you will find an answer to any question you might have about your SC here.

Take care

Tommy

elaborate on bfi? any links? i admit i havent researched intakes very much yet, i wanna do the hid's first.

i paid 12.5 for it, which is a little above blue book, but it was worth it. car is in pretty much perfect condition, and the previous owner was one of these rich guys who took the car to the dealership for everything, including oil changes... he gave me a 2 inch binder with every receipt for all work ever done to the car, all at the dealership.

thanks a bunch. i used lexol products on my last car's leather, but i've read some on CL about a product that you put on the leather and let sit for a few hours while heating the interior... i've got some more reading to do about leather care, obviously.

Yup, the old owner didnt like the look of the older sc wheels, and the chrome on them was flaking off, so he just bought 5 new gs wheels. I have the old set in my garage, not sure what to do with them.

I recommend painting the calipers like you mention. It's amazingly easy. I didn't even take mine off the car. Just buy some hi-temp paint (I used gloss black) and cover up the rotor and wheel well with paper (kinda tuck some between the caliper and rotor if you can) and spray away. I think in total it took me about 30 minutes, and that included me jacking up the car with the hand jack for all the wheels...

PS. I also painted the center of the rotor with flat black too, cuz once I put the wheels back on, THAT rust became noticible...

PPS. Welcome!
