Default It's official - I got my SC300!

Hey guys!

Yesterday my wife and I bought our first Lexus! I was VERY nervous driving to the car lot - I just knew someone else bought it first!

Anyhow, it's a black/tan interior '92 SC300 5-speed with (no kidding) 64,000 miles on it. It's gotta be the lowest-mileage car I've owned - my daily driver right now is an '86 RX-7 base with 194,000 on it .

I absolutely LOVE the car, and my wife does too - she keeps coming up with errands to run so she can take it to the store .

First priority is to get a set of keys - I only have the valet key, and the trunk remote open is locked, so I've yet to see in the trunk .

I registered with Lexus online, and found you can actually have them send you an owner's manual! Got everything BUT the owner's manual, so that sure will be nice to have. Did get the instructions for the in-car Lexus cell phone - yeah, that's coming out .

Expect to see more of me around here - I intend to learn all I can on the car, and I'll definitely be doing all the maintenance and repair myself, so hopefully I can share what I learn.

Dale

Congratulations on your purchase! It's a beautiful car!

Black is my favorite SC color.

Owner's manuals can be found on eBay for relatively cheap.

Very clean and exceptional miles for a 92! my 93 had 63K before I parted with it. Good luck!

Congrats- looks nice and clean. A spoiler and some wheels will transform it to an even higher level too.

Do you have a sunroof? It almost looked like you didn't- but I can't tell with the angles.

Thanks for all the compliments!

To answer some questions -

- Yes, I am 6'6" - you nailed it . And, yes, I do fit in an RX-7 .

- I did get it from Northstar Automotive here in town. $8840 was the final price - hard to beat! I would ONLY get one that was a stick - I can't stand automatics. That's the appeal of the SC300 to me - good, clean lines, rear wheel drive, good power, and available in a stick.

- Yes, it does have a glass sunroof. The car seems pretty loaded out - leather seats with the seat position memory, 12-disc changer (just discovered today that it comes with 2 free rap cd's!), Lexus cell phone, wood on the dash, etc. It doesn't have heated seats, though, but since the car was originally from New Orleans, it makes sense - doesn't get that cold down here.

My plans for the car is to keep things simple, clean, and sharp. First step (probably this weekend) is a full tuneup - new plugs, Redline in the gearbox, Mobil 1 in the crankcase. I'll be ordering a new set of keys Monday - having just the valet key is pretty lame .

Mod-wise, I'd like to get some good looking wheels - I'll likely stick with 17's, as it's a good size with tire prices that aren't outrageous. Again, something just clean and "right" looking. I'd love to get Tokico's and Eibach's for the car, too. Powertrain-wise, a cat-back would likely be all I'd do, along with the BFI modded airbox. The car really has plenty of power, and I've already been down the "huge horsepower build" road. It's fun driving around with 300-400 hp under your right foot, but you always wonder what will break next .

If you guys would like to see the list of mods and some pics of my '88 Turbo RX-7, check here:
http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/member...iew&car_id=265

Words can't describe how off the deep end that car is .

But, I am keeping the license plate that was on the '88 Turbo for the SC300 - "RX-7GURU". It's on there right now . Even though I'll likely be an SC guru in a year or so, RX-7's have been a MAJOR part of my life for the last 7-odd years.

Again, thanks for the compliments!
Dale
