not quite what i envisioned - that looks like
a universal
what i was looking for in a "custom made"
was a full replacement piece the WHOLE
trim piece from the 'a' piller all the way back
to the 'b' piller (on most cars it stops @ the roof)
bump for more action on the poll

I would think we you would want to make the product as universal as possible, so as to ensure you get enough people ordering, with that in mind, I would consider designing the pod for 52mm, with a ring that can be dremeled out to accomodate a 60mm pod. I would also consider tan probably, as that is what the majority of cars interiors are, and lighter colors are easier to paint over. As far as number of guage locations, I'm biased, I would say 3, because for the turbo guys that is boost, egt, and one other. The NA guys may have more trouble filling 3 positions.

I voted yes, as long as it is a tan 60mm 3 pillar. I think that everyone would agree that it has to look "seamless" and "factory." BTW ... does anyone know about how much this will cost us?

I will contact the company tomorrow.

Mods: is there a way to find out who the 19 members that voted "yes" are?

Here is the deal:

Without the vendor actually seeing the pillar, he quoted me 45 for a partial replacement pillar with 3 pods (60 mm).
By defualt the pillar will be black abs plastic. Colormatching to tan will be available at a cost of 7.99 per pillar by request.

The vendor will not be able to make a complete replacement pillar due to the capability of the machine. The pillar will end where the roofline of the car is. Potential buyers will have to cut their original pillar and join it where the replacement pillar ends. Picture a conventional A pillar that stops at the roof/windshield. This is what the vendor can produce.

Since we have 20 potential buyers and we need 30 to start, are you guys willing to absorb the cost of 10 units. We can easily sell the 10 on ebay or CL classifieds, and redistribute the money to the 20 buyers at a later date.

The vendor will need a A pillar to start and verify pricing(he indicated pricing should not be more than 60 at the very worst case). I can send the pillar, if we have 20 buyers ready to go.

Let me know what you guys think?

Aliga: I do not have a way of seeing who the 19 are, maybe the admins or supermods do. Please see if you can tee them up with one of our vendors - maybe Steve Ganz wouldn't mind endorsing it?

I voted yes .... and I am still in. I am also more than willing to equally distribute the cost of the other ten pods into the price. Just a small price to pay in the passionate pursuit of perfection. Let us know when and where to pay up ... I am a big fan of PayPal.
