Default Interest in A-Pillar gauge pod?

Interest in A-Pillar gauge pod?
I have a friend that works in a plastic shop that I may be able to get to make some A-pillar guage pods for the SC300/400. I know no one makes these and was just seeing if there would be an interest to see if it would be worth there time to make a bunch of them. It will probably be made for 60MM gauges. But I could probably get them both in 52MM and 60MM.

I am stupid and forgot to add the poll so just post up how many guage slots you would like.. 1, 2, or 3

Post up here if you are interested or not!

I believe someone else is also working on making a full a pillar as well. I'm interested in it as long as its a full pillar and not a universal, as well as it would need to be tan. There are no after market, full a-pillar pods available for our cars, maybe the soarer, but those would be for our passenger side pillar.

O.L.T, I think the one you saw was a custom piece.

Keep me posted on this Tony, I would also talk to lexcoupe on CL, he is the one looking into it as well.

Is your friend going to cut a mold and injection mold a piece? Or is he going to machine it out of stock material? Or are you guys considering the hand lay up route? Also, what type of material is being considered? I'd imagine this would be costly for just a small batch run. What is the name of the plastics shop? Just curious on what type of process is being considered to create this piece. Good luck.

Oh yea - you asked 1/2/3 pods. A mold could be designed with swapable cores to satisfy each of these. If they are being machined - then that could also be customer specified and changed on the fly. If I was going to use a full pillar replacement, I would go ahead and use 3 pods though.

trimmed? Let me know if we can get this going, I'll be in for sure

If it meets all the above criteria (tan color, factory fit, etc), I'd definately be in for one. A 3 slot would be my preference, but a 2 slot would be OK.

hmmm, while you guys are planning on makign pods,
here's a suggestion, maybe a pod that sits on the dashboard like the WRX pod (dealer option)
it holds 3 guages and sits in the middle of the dashboard, not too bad
maybe have it slightly canted towards the driver.....

my 2 cents

btw: yes I'd be interested in a 52mm 2 guage a-pillar pod,
but would rather have a dash mounted one if available...

Ok, heres the deal. I am going to talk with the guy this weekend. I am going to print this thread out so that he can read all the suggestions. I also may be able to get the pillars wrapped in leather before they are sent out. This will all be discussed this weekend and I will keep you guys updated.

As for the pod on the dash. Any universal one will fit on there. I belive Do-Luck has a pod and Greddy also.
