Door Panels
I was wondering if anyone had some detailed pictures of the unexposed side of the interior door panels. I am intending to fix the cracks and rattles and would like some pictures of the various screw holes and common cracks (by the interior handle, around speaker) so I can do both doors in a day (hoping) and have all the parts ready. Much appreciated. you can email me the pics at SC300@optonline.net if preferable. Thanks.

There are several old post with suggestions and pictures. You should do a search for those.
I had mine reinforced and mended by a pro leather shop. What I found out was that it's not much more expensive to have them do both jobs and, since they had to do the crack mending anyway, I had them do both jobs at once. I took the panels off and delivered them to their shop. They had their Lexus specialist who has repaired many SC doors do the repair. They're holding up beautifully and the repair is invisible.
I'm told you can buy parts or whole new panels to replace the cracked ones but that they won't last. They'll just crack also in a couple of years unless they're reinforced.

Well, my leather has not ripped or cracked, but I can see the parts moving underneath so i know they are cracked. That's why i wanted the pictures, so I could fab some reinforcement parts. I've seen pictures of the trim that goes around the window and have a fiarly good idea of what I need, but have not been able to find one of the various screw point for the panel.

I put silver washers under the screws to distribute the weight better. You could paint the washers light beige to cover them up, but realistically noone will ever see them. The rattles fromt he door actually come from the plastic weather stripping, I have taken apart my drivers door 4 times or so to reglue, or retighten screws and such... Im a pro at it now.

This is from memory but I think it's complete.
Pry up the window/lock control plate with a padded screwdriver. Disconnect the electrical plug from the control plate and courtesy light which you can reach through the hole.
Then remove the following screws:
Two along the upper front edge covered by little plastic caps. The plastic under these screws will probably be cracked.
Three along the bottom edge
Two under the arm rest.
One behind the handle garnish.
Once these are out, use your pin remover or padded screwdriver to start working the panel off from the rear bottom edge. There are 4 or so of those little plastic push plugs holding it along the back edge and bottom.
Finally disconnect the latch and lock cables and, if the driver's door, the electrical plug from the seat memory control buttons and it's off.
Altogether takes about 10 or 15 minutes.
When reinstalling, don't torque the screws too tight. If you do the plastic underneath will crack.
