The stock door hinges can barely handle the weight...

I agree, I kind of like it, but I would only do this on a show car or something, not a daily driver...

And as siniquezu implied, our doors are HEAVY... and this would prob not work...

that wont look nice on an sc imo. it just wont flow with the car's style. and dont get scammed on ebay for the door kits that are being sold.

there is no amount of re-engineering that will keep the welds in place for our doors over "normal" useage. The pillar or the weld will give with repeated use. i'd be scared to open it more than once a week.

withthe weight of our doors. it just is somthing you cannot get around. wear and tear on the hinges and weld spots would be too much.

I would, ive been looking for a kit that is strong enough to hold the SC doors, the SC door hinge is differnt that most cars so i doubt i will ever be able to find a kit will work with the SC.

haha.....sorry to say but, good luck searching. i think the best bang for the buck would to go to some well known shop and have them custom make you one. i am pretty sure that no one out there makes a kit for the sc or for any lex. the closes thing i can think of that will fit on a lex is if you custom fit one for another car on the IS300. cuz them doors are pretty light and kinda resemble the accord doors.

If all cars had those doors, we wouldn't have to worry so much about dings. When you think about it, they are actually a better design than traditional swing out doors.

depends on your definition of a better design. ;] i mean, its not a problem for me to get inside a car if i had those doors because i'm pretty small. but if u picture a larger guy trying to get into the car, haha, oh man, i dont think he would buy that car with those kinda doors. ;] thats why vertical doors are purely for the "exotic" car breeds.

I never thought about it this way... I guess if the doors opened up like that then you would not have to worry... The more I think about it the more I am liking it LOL, But I try to park far enough away that people don't hit my car or anything...
