would anyone do this on the sc (lamborghini scissor type doors)

qmtran touched on the biggest drawback of all...and that is that the bottom front corner of the door will pivot upwards and block a significant portion of the door opening. These are ball park numbers, but the bottom 24" of the door will block the 56" wide opening. And it's actually not that wide, because the driver's seat is forward of the B pillar. You'd have less than two feet of wiggle room to get in and out. The Lamborhini door works because the door is not that high and that corner is chopped off - compare the shape of that door to the SC door:

i understand what your saying, however the verticle door kits swing half way open and then up, so you wont stab your leg at the bottom of the door. .

For all that say it can't be done....
Yes the SC doors are heavy: Use an appropriate strut. Gusset the hinge properly...a good gusset will support thousands of pounds.
Yes the SC doors are not the same shape as Lamos: This mod has been done on many many cars with regular shaped doors with penty of room to get into the vehicle.
I've seen it on civics, accords, F-150's, Navigators, etc etc. And in my opinion the mod is way too trick for any of these cars...but the SC is so sleek looking I really think it would make a sick addition a HOT car...of course you still need rims/lowering/kit.

It can be done. I had my car in a shop for almost a month getting the work done to change the doors. However, the wrong hinge kit got ordered after they pulled my doors off and everything and I didn't have the time to wait any longer and I bought a house so I put my 3500 back into my pocket and left. But, It can be done. It's not hard for an experienced place to do. It's done on escalades and every other thing you can think off. The door hinge has absolutely nothing at all to do with it because the hinge kit replaces the existing one (the new one is welded in). However, The kit is more expensive because we cannot use the one that are used on the tin can honda/toyota doors. Decah makes an advanced kit for jobs just like our's. I was very close to becoming the 1st but unfortunatly timing was off and I could no longer go without a car. If your seriously intersted I know a good place in jersey that can definitly do it.

Only thing I have to say is the whole system would have to be automatic.
Like a few of you said, our doors are extremely heavy.
In order to get this to work, the shox need to be fed by compressed air and I'm thinking it has to work in both directions.
In other cars, the door can just be pulled down by the driver/passenger.
Anyone get what I'm saying?
