Default Telescopic Steering Wheel Issue

Hey Guys I have a question about my telescopic steering wheel.

When it is set to automatically come out when I stick the key in it starts to come out but when I turn the ignition it stops. It will come all the way out if I just stick the key in and don't turn the ignition on. This is on a 92 SC300. Is this normal for this year?

My 95 SC400 would come all the way out even while I was turning the ignition on.

Any Ideas as to what I should check for?

Thanks!!

Hmmm... I did a search but I could only come up with problems with it not working at all or grinding. Mine works fine as far as the motors in it go, but It seems like when I turn the ignition it cuts the power to the steering motors on it's way out.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

it's the contacts on the ignition. the switch will need replaced if you are concerned over it.

Default telescopic question and underhood paint color

New guy here

Today I looked at a 96 with 101k on it and the telescopic steering wheel didn't seem to work right. When I opened the door it moved by it self but when I got in the joy stick would not move the wheel in, out or up and down. What is that "Auto" button for? It seemed to be stuck in but I'm not sure if that's how they all are? If it is just stuck in would that cause the joy stick to not work? ( tried to search on this subject but came up empty)

Ok, next question. Do all SC's have black paint under the hood in the engine bay? I've looked at 3 so far, first was a Silver SC 300 that used to be black, second was black and the third was burgundy but coulden't tell if it used to be black or not. I did notice the door hinges were black also.

Thanks guys
