I am the only one who works on the SC400. Shop rates suck and I can't see paying somebody to do the same job.

I usually do my stereo and interior stuff myself. Other than oil changes and installing coilovers, I haven't had to do anything to my SC.

If I had the tools and the knowledge, I would do everything myself.

Hey at least someone searched

After being raped on a clutch job a long time ago when I was 16, and my mom had to shell out almost a grand. I have done everything my self. I refuse to pay someone to half *** a job on my car. I will pay a machine shop to do stuff that I dont have the tools to do. And ill pay for alignment.

+1. I wrench on my own car. It's one of the joys of living. The only exception is my other car that is still under warranty. I get nervous every time I bring her in to the dealer.

I have little mechanical skill so I'm always at the mercy of shops. It doesn't help that this is my daily.

I only work on my car because I cant afford $100 an hour for a decent shop to do it. Next time I will drop the cash on a finished car. It always costs more to build your own, and then you have to do all the work too.

I used to enjoy working on cars, but now it just makes all my joints hurt, takes up time that I could be drinking beer or surfing CL, and makes me cuss when stuff breaks or does not want to play nice.

It does not help that my shop got put on hold and I have to drive to my parents house to use my dads shop whenever I want to work on something. I guess I am just getting old and lazy...

I try to do everything my self that I have the tools for...some things like Motors mounts I just don't feel like messing with.

I rebuilt the entire front of my car, in the parking lot of our condo.
