I work on my own car but then again I work at a shop where I can do everything myself. Ive done re simple fluid changes to as complex as a timing belt and water pump on my sc300
If I had the time I would work on my own car, but it feels good dropping my car off and letting other people take on the headaches. Glad I found a shop that I can trust.
I do all my own work unless its something I just absolutely cannot do myself like an alignment or an ac evac/refill. The only thing I've had at a shop in the last 10 years or so that didn't involve super high dollar equipment was getting a clutch put in an old f-150 4x4 I had. The transmission and transfer case were so huge there was no way I could have done the job at home.
I rather work on the car myself, that is if I know what I am doing. If it is too difficult, I'll have the mechanic work on it.

same here, this way i know wut i did to my car. i had a friend that took her car to do an oil change and they forgot to put oil in the car and her engine seized.
I try to do whatever i can by myself because they best way to learn is to search online and try it for myself. Knowledge is power and Power is Money and Money is a good thing. =)
I rather do the work myself I can't really trust any shops around, they all seem shady and over priced. That way I can save some bucks. Plus I get that sense of accomplishment when I do
