Verdict: 98-00 SC400 VVT-i 290 hp 300TQ..You can murder even the new maximas

Yes that reminds me... on the freeway SC400s are absolutely killer, regardless of what year they are 92-00, but what I want to know is, is the difference in highway response that different? I knwo the 98+ SC4s have significantly more low end power, but on the highway, arent the two cars (pre 98 and 98) roughly the same?

I don't know about that... I've driven 98-00 GS400s, essentially the same drivetrain as the 98-00 SC400s and they are CONSIDERABLY faster and more powerful than the pre-98s.

Yeah... I know I bounce back and forth on this subject like a ping pong ball, but I think I'd be ahead of the game to just leave my 92 alone and eventually just add a 98+ SC4 to my personal fleet...

The VVT-i in the later models definitely adds a bit to the freeway mashing fun.
