My 95 has 47700 miles on it. I've had it for 3 years. I haven't kept a car longer than 3 yrs since 1985. I want to keep this one, especially after all the mods. I could see myself selling for the right price. I would rather keep it as a second car. Either way I'll be getting a g35 at some point. Once it becomes the second car I'll slam it, up the ponies, beef the brakes, etc.

It really made me think twice about it lol, I really like 98+ SC400 and can afford it now, but selling a very nice 96 to purchase a RIGHT 98+, it is just not like purchasing a house where you can do a contigent purchase...

At least three more years. If I can afford to keep it as an extra car, I will, but I don't have the room for more than 4 or 5 cars at a time. So, in 2007 I'll see. I may look for a 99 model, or I may get a cheap SC300 as a project car and build a turbo monster while swapping my currrent stereo, black interior, and rims from my SC4 to the SC3 project car. Regardless, I plan on keeping a Lexus of some kind in my life forever!

I dont ever plan on selling it, trading it or giving it away. Its staying with me forever. I plan on buying another SC but thats a while from now. I dont ever planning on selling that one either.
If it dies than I'll do whatever it takes to fix it but its not going anywhere. This is absolutely the best car ever built and there's no reason to get rid of it.

The way I see it is....No matter what car you might own or may have owned, you dont know what you've been missing all that time until you drive an SC. The pursuit for perfection for Lexus ended when they came out with the original SC400
This is going into my sig because there is no other absolute truth than this and if you dont believe me its because you dont own an SC.

That's a question I've been asking myself a lot lately. I have a 92 SC300 and I absolutely love the car, the way it drives, the way it looks, and the looks I get from the ladies doesnn't hurt either. But lately I've been having some issues with the car. I stay on top of all the maintenance needs and try to handle any necessary repairs in a short timeframe before the problem spreads (as they often do), but my SC now has almost 180k on it, the seats aren't what they used to be, and I'm starting to have little problems here and there (electrical issues, minor repairs, plastic and leather cracking, etc.) I keep telling myself once I pay the car off (exactly 12 months from now, woo hoo!) I can make ALL the necessary repairs and add some rims and other mods, nothing crazy though as this is my daily driver and I don't want or need it to be stolen (LOL, but seriously). I keep thinking once it's paid for I'll get the "new car bug" like most people and want something else, but friends have told me that once the car is mine and I begin to hook it up I'll look upon it as a "new car" and the urge to "keep up with the Jones's" will subside. It's tough here in LA where everybody has a Hummer or a Benz, not like those pieces of crap can even think of keeping up with the SC (ha ha) but still. I'd like to say that I'll keep the car for at least another 2 years. I'm just hesitant on driving a "14 year old" Lexus daily, and by then it'll have over 200k on it as I drive almost 60 miles a day...

Hey Mike, keep up with the maintenance and repairs for now until the car is paid off. You're doin' things right. Your friends are right about the mods. With every mod you do to the SC, your love and joy of driving the car is renewed. There is a lot of improvements you can do to your car. New leather, steering wheel, lowering, wheels, body kit, HID, exhaust, all go a long way. With a few mods here and there, you can make your 12 year old Lexus on par with every Benz you pass by on the freeway. I have seen some SCs that would steal the attention away from any AMG-equipped Benz rolling down the road.

I bought my 96 SC3 with 100,205 miles on it.
It hasn't even been a year yet and the car's now at 121,000 miles.
I drive it any distance for any reason.
Never thought I'd enjoy driving this much.
I'm not sure how long I'll keep this one but I definitely know what my next car will be.
