Peeling Out
#17
I have a 96 SC300 automatic also. In stock form, just by slamming on the gas (regardless of ECT, Trac, overdrive settings) the car won't peel out.
The computer thinks about how heavy you put your foot on the pedal, starts moving a little bit, then the computer tells the engine that you actually wanted to go really fast, and then the car moves fast.
Any chance of peeling out is ruined by the hesitation between the time you hit your foot and the engine actually starts revving.
This problem is easily remedied by dropping a manual transmission in. Also change your spark plugs, wires, etc.
PS: I'm drunk way too early. Happy St. Patties day, CL!!!

drunk people are funny. but as for the peeling out.. you coooouuuullddd. hold your foot on the brake with it in drive. rev the engine up to around 4 or 5k maybe? then let off the break and listen to that mighty chirp of rubber. OR you could turbo your car then floor it and peel out throught 1st and 2nd gear.
oh yah and it depends on your tires. if you got some good sticky tires. then you wont be able to

I would recommend flooring the throttle so that the engine bounces off the rev-limiter while in neutral and then drop it into drive. I hear it cleans out your tranny. . .

dump a gallon of bleach on the pavement in an empty parking lot (makes a lot of smoke during your burnout), put left foot on brake, disable traction, shift that auto tranny into low, turn off overdrive, depress gas pedal til tach reads 5000 rpm, release brake. Instant smoke signals. At least it works for me. Any SC wether a 3 or 4 is capable of leaving a few black stripes on the road. If you can't do it, you may need a tune up.

man...what's the fascination with peeling out? I've never seen a chick jump on a guy's sack because he peeled out in front of her, so what's the point? Unless this is your first car and you've never had a beater to do these types of stunts. Last time I peeled out intentionally I was still in my teens, and very foolish. Man, just remember what Too $hort said in his song "I'm a Player"...."I slow down and let the goldiggers count my spokes"....

While peeling out all the time isn't good for your car, tires, pocketbook, etc...., it is nice to know that your car is powerful enough to do so.
