Default Are my expectation too high?

For some time now I have been looking for a 92-93 SC400. The problem is that I have not yet found anyone who has maintenance records whether it is private party or a used dealership. Many will claim that the car has been well taken care of but they never have proof. I guess my thought is that anyone who would actually have the recommended maintenance done would probably keep the records. Do I expect too much?

Thanks,
Brad

no, just keep searching. You will find it. My car has all records and low miles. I am certain you can find one to your liking. Patience is a virtue

Default expectations

I don't think what you want is unreasonable. I have every receipt of the service done on my cars in a box. I call it the carbox. However, if you can't find a car with records, buy from a lexus dealership who stands behind their products. I bought my sc from a dealership that gave me a 1 year warranty. I felt good about the car because they were willing to stand behind the car. I did pay more for it though. That's how it goes. Comfort usually costs more.

Reggie is correct about buying from a Lexus dealer. A 92 or 93 won't be certifed (They only certify late model vehicles) but it will be in good condition.

If that's not good enough, find a mechanic to inspect the car before buying it including a compression or leak down test. It's going to be hard to find a 10 to 12 year old vehicle with all the service records. Good luck.
