I've been working on the LED tails.
Since i can design them to look anyway i want, i have been doing this pair by specific order. This is how the person asked for them to look. Here is the first shot of the side i finished. I am completing the center piece tonight, which will have led's making a circle around each bulb. I am setting the led's up to look a certain way at a certain angle. You can see this in the offset picture #2.

These are ready to go. You design them, i build the boards and ship to you. All you have to do is pop the lights in the oven and crack them open, slide the boards in, plug them into the rear wiring. You can plug them into the brake lights, or plug them into the parking lights. Or ... heck, both (you will need to incorporate that into your design you submit).
The boards are build with anywhere from 130 to 240 led's depending on what you want it to look like and run a flat rate of $200. At retail, the amount of led's would cost over $2,200.00
Since they are $14 per led. If i wouldn't have started buying the led's in cases at $4,000 per order, the tails would have to cost almost $700 to build

I think this looks awesome, but I just upgraded my tail lights from the 98-2000 style to the 91- up style.

These boards simply have a Positive and Negative connection. I try and make anything i do available for all vehicles, so this would plug directly into any model of any car. You simply pic which you would want them on, brakes, tails, and plug them in to the existing wiring with a simple splice.

That looks really good. If you could sequence the turn signals to run from inside to outside like the old T-birds, that would be really cool. A few 555 timers should do the trick, but that will still be a handful of design work.
I'm sure this won't be an issue for a few installations, but do tail light assemblies need to be DOT approved? If so, this may come up if you move into serious production.

I love these LED tails!!! What is the failure rate on them? Do they last much longer than the standard filament bulbs?

LED's have a lifespan of 240,000 - 350,000 hours generally. They can last as long as 500,000 hours with generally no failure rate. They will all have a 1 yr warranty.

Wow man I love that look, with the larger sized LED's! Kinda similar to the Cadillac DTS (man those things light up the road when they stop!!)

Hey OLT,
Is it possible for say the turn signals to "waterfall" from the inside led's to the outside, say 2 rows at a time? Do you know what I mean?
edit: made something, maybe more then 2 or make them go faster or something like that??
