Default Hi IM new

Hi everyone I would like to introduce myself and I have tons of noob questions to ask. I am about to purcahse my friends sc 300 for 6500$. The car has 125k miles on it and a vertex kit with 18 inch adr sterling rims. Before I make this purchase I would like to know how reliable is the sc 300? I know it has the n/a supra engine but should I expect to drive this car for another four years? I know small problems will occur but, I'm hoping this car will last 4 more years. Any comments are welcome and thanks for everyones help. I will post pics soon.

S-E-A-R-C-H B-U-T-T-O-N is your VERY best friend. we have discussed everything ten times over and there is lots of good info.

Welcome and congrads! SC's run for about 350,000 miles with no major trouble. Go for it.

Welcome!

That sounds like a great deal!

125K is nothing on the SC. It most likely runs like new.

Even if it's a '92, you'll have much more than 4 years left.

The 3.0 in-line 6 in the SC300, if it is running properly, is as smooth as butter. That engine currently is used in the IS300 and GS300....but not in the current SC series (a Lexus marketing mistake, in my opinion). I have that engine in my IS300 and LOVE it....even though it is somewhat of a gas hog even by 6-cylinder standards....16-19 MPG in mixed driving. The next IS and GS will probably have the 3.3L V6, so the 3.0 in-line may become a collector's item, to an extent. If this car is in good shape, I'd consider it.....and take CARE of it. One of the most important things to check at that mileage an engine compression check for valve and piston ring wear, and make sure that the timinmg belt has been replaced.
Good Luck.

Welcome, you can feel safe with this purchace. In fact, I'll buy it if you're unsure. I'm looking for a second sc. Post pics if you don't want it.

That's a SWEET SC!
Very nice and clean.

You definately got that at a steal. I think its worth twice the $6500 you paid
with the wheels, kit, interior mods, ect.

Welcome to the club!

$6500!!!! Holy &^%$ that was a great price! Man am I jealous of your car.

I do have one question for you though. I'm considering getting the ADR Sterlings too and I'd like to know what size the wheels are. Can you tell me what diameter, width and offset they are?

J
