Default opinions on a certain sc400

hey guys, im about to turn 16 and i was wondering if you could give me your opinions on if i should get this certain sc400 or if i should get a different car. the sc400 is my sisters old car. it has 128000 miles and is champagne (color). if i would buy it, she would sell it to me from 5k to 6k. right now the heater doesnt work and i think that thats the only problem. also are the sc400's really reliable. how many miles can they drive up to before there are any serious problems? how many miles are on yall guys cars and were there any major problems? THANKS

btw: if this car is no good, should i get an integra gs-r or 97-99 maxima SE instead

do a search on SC's average SC can go up to 250-350,000 miles if properly maintained before any problems will occur, The SC is your best choice it looks the hottest of the 3 just my .02 good luck. what year is it, give your sister 4K and use 2K for mods.(it'll go fast egads: )LOL
ps welcome to ClubLexus and use search its your best freind it has a lot of info.

If its your sister selling it to you, I would suggest you suck up to her like crazy. Buy her lunch everyday, do her laundry etc. so maybe she will give a a bigger family discount.

The heater is an easy fix.

Just the heater control valve. Do a search and you will find it for sure.

I say go for it!

Question

Are you going to have your own insurance policy or be on your mom or dad's? If you are going to get your own policy, you would probably be better off with the Maxima than either the GS or Integra...and especially a Type R Integra...affordable insurance for a 16-year-old male could be hard to get.
If you're going to be on your dad's policy, the GS would be an OK choice...heater problems are usually minor to fix. The worst-case scenario would be if it needed a whole new heater core...that is a lot of work under the dash, ripping things out.
The GS also has the best safety features out of the three (for your parents' peace of mind).

If I could've had the opportunity to have a SC400 @ 16, I'd of been ALL over it. Just resist the urge to mutilate it. Good luck, man.

Where in tx are you? Houston here

If you are in houston, you dont need the heater LOL. This is for you to think about. You re 16.

SC400 I am all over it. 2dr v8 power classy, timeless beauty. reliable, it s a lexus

Maxima front wheel drive 4 door I dont know bout reliability. Ugly. I realy dont care for Maximas.

Integra- frt wheel- alot of 16 year have this car and turn it into fried rice. On the other hand its reliable cheap on gas, 2 door sporty. If I cant have the V8 lex I rather have the teg. I would probably look for a nice Accord before a Maximas.

Just my opinion. And I am twice your age.

I have to agree that is a nice Max. Can't imagine the money spent on it.

The SC400 is in a different class though. RWD V8 nuff said. Your friends will think it's pimp. As reliable as it is, when you need to do repairs or maintenance parts are more expensive.

If you're toting around friends or have a girlfriend then get the 4 door Max (more room more love). As mentioned before get insurance quotes for both cars and that may sway your decision. Good Luck!
