Default Factory HIDs

Does anybody know if any of the newer SC300/400 came with HIDs from the factory? It would be nice to have some factory HID projectors instead of doing a retrofit.

no..cars barely started having factory HID's after 2000. then automakers gradually started to include factory HID's in their more higher class.

I think the shape of the SC headlights are perfect for them the way the inserts are rounded out.

If you were an automaker, would you spend millions retrofitting a new design onto a car you were terminating from production in 300 days?

That's what relentless pursuit of perfection is all about.

you're thinking of the relentless pursuit of bankruptcy.

Lexus was the first company to offer standard-equipped HIDs back in 1998 (GS400) when Merc and BMW was charging them as options on cars that cost double as late as 2002. Bravo Lexus...too bad they forgot about us...... ...not that it matters for me (1995)

Lukily the SC has projectors so retrofitting HID projectors is a lot easier than your standard HID-into-reflector retro. Those are a real ******. I've done both and the SC was by far the easiest.

The hardest one was my Celica with pop-up lights. It was also the most rewarding:

Good luck!

Yet BMW was the first to offer HID in the early nineties on the 7-series. HID lighting didn't really become popular until Acura made them standard on the last gen Acura 3.2tl -- which outsold the GS.
