My pass. seat motor on my 92 SC is not working correctly. This is the motor that moves the seat on the rails forward and backward. The seat motor is only moving the seat on the inside rail. The outside rail(by the door) is staying stationary, causing the seat to twist on the rail. Has anyone had this problem and what is the fix?

I haven't had this problem, but I did remove my seats to install new leather. I would suggest removing the seat, turning over so you can see the motor and track. I would think that something is caught in the track or the gear on that side is off. Remove and inspect before taking it to a shop, once you do this you should be able to see what's going on.

This sounds like a case of something falling out of the pocket(s) of someone who was riding in your car and it found it's way onto the seat track or into the gears. I know it's a tight squeeze under that seat but you have to feel around under there to see what may be blocking the track, see if you can get a chick with skinny arms to feel around under there. Pray it's as simple as that, but if this has been going on for a while and you keep moving the seat via motor you may do something worse like embed whatever is down there in the track where you really WILL have to remove the seat entirely to get it out. Let us know what you find, there's all kinds of goodies that fall under your seats so be prepared for what you may find....

The seats are simple to remove... pop up the plastice covers.. remove 4 or 5 bolts per seat and disconnect the wiring harness underneath...Just changed all mine...
As described it sounds like something is in your track, HOWEVER, the bearings or rollers on the outside may be busted... Ironically the "old:" seats i pulled out have perfect functioning tracks and motors but the "new" type set i bought and installed ride rougher on the track...go figure

Thks guys, I will pull the seat this weekend and take a look. I also have the factory manual, just curious if anyone has had this problem. Seat mechanism/motors look alittle complicated in the schematic but I'll have a look, and let you know what I find.

i had this problem when i had my SC, i jsut bought a used seat and replaced the motor and railings.
