What's My 2000 SC400 Worth?
Fellow Forum folks, I seek your advice. I'm considering selling my beloved SC400 up for sale to buy a new LS430, and I'm interested in your view of what it should sell for. It's a MY 2000 with 26,000 miles; bone stock and in perfect (really!) condition; silver/black with Nak, Traction, spoiler, heated seats, and still on factory warranty until August 2004. It was one of the very last manufactured and shipped to the U.S. - perhaps even the last one, just based on the VIN and the Forum data I've read. No accidents, but I've repainted any panel with a door ding or a scrape (i.e., under the nose) to keep it as-new factory fresh. I haven't decided whether or not to make the move, but I'm information gathering for now. Thanks! Paul

Agree, Black book is what the dealers use, go to cars.com
The car I found in excellent condition was just about at what the black book was. The dealers love when people go into there dealership quoting the KBB.

Not to sound high and mighty, but I'm a dealer , and I use Manheim.com (dealers only). According to that website, a 2000 SC400 in above average condition, retails for $34,700. Average condition is showing $30,200. Hope this helps!

The problem is, the Blue Book and Edmunds don't take into account cars in "perfect" condition. I've got a ready buyer in L.A. and want to price it fairly for both of us.

There was a rare cinnabar/ivory 2000 SC400 on Autotrader in March. It was fully equipped with NAK, TRAC, heated seats and factory chomies with 16,500 miles. It originally sold in Jan 01 so still had 10 months to go on the bumper-to-bumper. At that time the Black book Extra Clean retail was $30,000. He asked $29,750 and sold it in a matter of hours.
According to the second register owner (the son of the original owner), it had never had any paint or body work and was in absolutely perfect condition. I was hot on it and ready to drive to NJ to see and buy but spent a little time getting background on the car. It came through Servco Lexus in Honolulu so wasn't in the NA database. By the time Servco opened and I got the word that it had never had any serious problems, was still under warranty and was 50 state spec for emissions, it was sold.
I'd guess the black book extra clean number now is down to around $28,000. In my opinion, the paint work you have done on the car would be a real negative. Spot painting on those cars is hard to match and hide.
