Caliper Sticker Question
Hey Everyone,
About 4 years ago I painted my calipers "Ford Red." This was a type of engine paint I found at my local automotive store. I should have known by just the name that it was crap. The calipers are all faded orange now and it just looks terrible.
I plan on redoing my calipers a descrete black colour. I will probably put 5 layers of black and 3 clearcoat. I also want to add a "Lexus" sticker on the fronts and a "L" on the rear.
My question is should I stick the sticker on top of the black coats and then spray the clear ontop of the black and the sticker? Or does the sticker go on top of all of the coats?
Thanks!

if you get the sticker from the guys (not sure who sorry) on club lexus here then you can do it either under or over the clearcoat, since they are heat resistant. the ebay sellers usually arent heat resistant so just be careful as to what you get. i would hold out for something that will last so being resistant to heat would be ur best bet. good luck and if you really want a good paint job i would suggest getting the calipers stripped of the paint and then having them powder coated. oh yea when ur done definately post some pics

caliper decals
I own Eurostreetgraphics.com, in the last 10 years of automotive graphics we have installed decals on calipers with out any problem with heat but vinyl is known to peel when pressure wash at the right angle. I would paint bade coat place decals then clear

Although I am no expert, but I tried the ford paint once as well, with great disappointment. But recently the local automotive place under the manufacturer of Dupli-colour introduces a caliper paint set (everything you need in a box). I also purchased some decals from Ebay. Here are the results….3 coats, no clear coat. It has only been a few weeks, so I can not report on the long term results.

Silverback, is that an SC with the GS 5 spoke wheels? Can you post a pic of your entire car? I want to see the look with the wheels and the calipers painted. I may go with this set-up if I like it. Thanks.

Eurostreetgraphics is right, the decals I got for my 92 sc400 where supposed to be just that....for a sc400, but the supplier sent the GS version. My time was limited and the calipers were already painted, so I just used what I had received. Although a curved design would be better, I feel these still do the trick. When the chromes are spinning, it is truly a beautiful thing. Tons of compliments already! To answer the other question, yes my rims are the 17’s off the GS400, a perfect compliment, especially staying with the Lexus center caps.

Wow! 4 wheel splash gaurds and sunroof deflector. Those are some rare options. Never even seen a pic of the sunroof deflector before, just heard about it.
