Default NEED opinions all!

hey guys! i was just wondering what you would think about a 97' sc300 over an older sc400.... i found a nice one that i doubt i can pass up on... it is a black on black 97' sc300 fully loaded with 91k on it and they want $11,900 for it but i'm sure i can talk them down some.... it is in PRIME shape in and out! and another thing i wanna ask..... i heard the sc300 is a little more fun to drive over the sc400 because i heard it has better handlign and is a little more sporty but slow.... and i hear the sc400 is a lot faster and crappy handling compared to the 300.... is this true? and what are all you're opinions on it? i need as much feedback as possible to help me! its a tough switch from the v8 power to straight 6 but heres the car! thanks!

the cars are identical and there is only a 200 lb weight difference. so handling will not be affected.

aside of the fact you have to literally drive the wheels off an sc300 to get it moving, there is no difference at all.

SC400 all the way!!!! NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT!!

get it! i have those wheels too and the ladies love em

nah but, yea if you get a deal like that...you should feel pretty lucky. i got my car for 9,300 and its 2 years older than yours, so if you work them down to 11k or something around there, you'd be getting a steal. good luck!

Well, it all depends on your plan with the car. Do you plan on modifying it or keeping it stock? I think the sc300 have nore aftermarket support than the sc400. I've driven both sc300(AT) and sc400 and I prfer the sc400. The sc400 to me was quieter and definately has more power so I bought the sc400 instead. I use to have a integra and there is no replacement for displacement. I'll never buy a four banger again. Plus the V8 engines are cheaper than the I-6 in the sc300. I was quoted by a taprecycling employee that for the complete engine and tranny for the sc400 V8(not sure what year) was only $1500 while the 2jz(sc300 engine) was like around $3000 for it was in higher demand.

I was also in the market for and sc300 but ended getting the sc400. Gee, I wonder why!!!

I have actually heard on more than one occasion (although I can't guarantee this being true) that the SC400 is more stiffly sprung giving it a firmer/sportier ride. And i can attest to the V8's smoothness over the I-6's. The gas mileage is almost the same if not better since the SC300 has to work harder. I may be fueling some flames but it seems as though the SC400 (1UZFE) seems to live a longer life than the SC300 (2JZGE), although both are astounding engines.

The truth is, you can't go wrong with either. Both will be more than enough car for nearly anyone. You just need to decide which you think will please you more. Have you tried driving both?

sorry about that.... but another thing.... how much would it cost to actually get the SC300 going pretty fast?
