Pics of my new 5% visor tint, need some opinions also
#16
I've noticed a lot of people have tinted their windshield. If I don't do with the strip, I was strongly thinking about doing the entire windshield, for the exact reason dentpusher mentioned - to keep the UV rays off my dash...
Has anyone had any problems with being pulled over / ticketed for a tinted windshield? Especially in So Cal?

If you do this here are a few options. Use a 50% or lighter to begin with. All film will have around 99% uv protection becuase its in the adhessive and not the tint itself. If your worried about getting pulled over Llumar makes a film called uv shield. It is clear but will block all the harmfull uv rays if thats your main goal. I did mine becuase I wanted to darken up the car without having to use 5%. If you use a sputtered film (reflective) it will look more like a factory coated window and not aftermarket plus keep out more heat than a normal charcoal film. Kind of like the old gm mini vans and tauras wagons. One of the best films for this is the Sun Guard Endurance in a 70%. I did mine in 32% but I am a tinter and if I have a run in with the cops its not going to cost me anything to remove it to get the ticket dismissed. Not trying to jack your thread by the way.

yeah im about to get tints soon and im just going to smoke them all the way around.. i always thought it looks wierd when you have dark tints all the way around and then it just becomes clear at the front windshield.. i'd rather just lighten my tints a little and get it done all the way around
smoked tints look nice on a black car... but thats just my personal opinion

Thanks for posting the pic and the info southernsc...now I have an idea what it looks like. I think I'm gonna go with something like a 50% reflective (like u suggested)...not too dark, but dark enough to blend with windows.
1993SCTT - I totally agree...I always thought it was odd when you have a dark tinted car all teh way around, and when you get to the windshield, is so clear...
(sorry about dragging this thread off topic..)

What do yall think about doing something like this? I'm also considering stripping the black in between the two windows to the chrome trim that's underneath it.

Did I mention I wouldn't do it?

I agree with the fact it wouldn't fit the car but to each thier own. I have done graphics on quite a few cars and some look cool but most look tacky in my opinion. Being a black car the tint thats on it keeps the nice smooth apperience of the car. Your car though so do what you like. You have to drive it everyday not us.
