HOW FAST? W/O TURBO or SWAP?
contemplating between the purchase of either a sc400 or sc300. i've been reading through these forums for about a month now. just wanted to know how fast and how much power can i get out of an SC300 without having to swap or turbo.???
got two waiting for me to choose...
98 SC400 65k miles. $21K

I'd pick the SC400 as well. You'll have a tough time making the SC300 as fast without a turbo. . . Have you driven both to compare?
I usually get around 23mpg with a combo of city/highway driving. But I've got a light foot . Good luck with your purchase. You truly can't go wrong with either one.

i say your better off getting a 97 sc300 5speed(last year it was made in 5 speed) for about 13-16k and still have plenty of money to invest in it. But if you rather stick with automatic i'd say get the sc400 you can't go with with a v8

I've got a low mileage 95 SC400. I will have to spend all kinds of funds and time to go from my stock 250 horsepower up to the 290 the newer engines have. 250 horepower is really unimpressive for the weight of these cars, 290 is nothing to sneeze at for a starting horsepower platform. It shouldn't take to much more than that to be able to start throttle steering the rear end, which in MHO is where the fun starts. Good Luck! Nitro
