Default Hand brake hesitation

When I'm getting ready to drift and pull the hand brake it takes about 3/4 seconds for the brake to kick in. In all other cars, the SECOND you pull up the brake it starts working. Its pretty embarrasing when your friends V4 accord can do better drifts. What has to be done to get the hand brake start working the second I pull it? Is the SC's hand brake just weak or is it my car?

mine kicks it immediately.. maybe you should try to pull up the E about 3/4 of a second before you're about to drift.. haha.. FYI, its not a V4, its an inline-4.

Why are you yanking your ebrake, just nail the gas pedal. And if she's a 5-speed, pop the clutch a little

As for the problem, maybe the ebrake line is loose? You could climb under your car and inspect the line

Couldn't resist.

Dude - really?

The car is freakin heavy. The shoes grab and there is an adjustment there. It's in the hat under a rubber cap. They are going to slip at speed. If you are going to be doing that, you should get a factory service manual and a lot of tools.

Have you been doing this a lot? Maybe you should replace the e-brake shoes. You also may want to adjust the cable. Remove the e-brake boot. Look down between the e-brake handle and the center console. You'll see the stud for the cable with two nuts. Loosen the upper nut. Tighten the second until the lever action is to your liking, then tighten that other jam nut to keep the cable from loosening.
